I read something somewhere that completely changed my perspective on peoples behaviour. When someone is behaving badly, especially towards you, what can often be particularly jarring to you is the thought that you wouldn’t behave badly like that, EVEN in their shoes. But what I read was saying that the reason why you wouldn’t behave badly is because of what you’ve been taught, and how you’ve been brought up. If you were them, and had been raised in their life circumstances, maybe you would behave badly towards others, because maybe that behaviour would be normal to you then, or even be taught as being commendable.
Anyway, hopefully that makes their behaviour sting a little less.
